original aim of the company was to try to help close the
recycling loop by making recycled paper more available
– and this remains our goal.
paperback launched the
UK’s first coated recycled printing paper in the
late eighties and we have continued to expand the range
and quality of recycled papers wherever possible. The
company pioneered environmental labelling with the ‘abcd’
classification system and we assess the environmental
performance of our suppliers each year.
In 2001 paperback was the
first UK paper merchant to be awarded FSC (Forest Stewardship
Council) Chain of Custody for the Context FSC range of
papers.

our East London warehouse and use carriers to deliver
